PHOTOSHOP: In todays class, we learned about Refining and Mask editing- We learned about changing the smoothness and feathering of an outline- Sometimes a crisper edge is needed and necessary, however, it can leave a “pasted on” look to an image. A soft 1 or 2 smooth should refine the shape. However you can use Refine and Mask to edit it further. My preferred method is the black on shape. You can crop and adjust the shape for your own preference. For homework, we used last weeks and this weeks skills to edit our various photographs: First I cut out a car from the car park photo, and pasted it after brightening the image. I struggled to find an interesting object to add. I love the main image, and for my next batch of photos I plan to take more diverse and clearer pictures. The competition is beautiful and love the staircase, but this assignment isn’t up to the standard I want. I wanted to create the illusion of the car driving up the stairs, which comes across okay, but I know I ...

PHOTOSHOP: Today we learned fundamental PhotoShop Skills- We clicked and dragged the pieces of the puzzle to complete it Next we learned how to select, and flip part of an image. This was used to create different faces: Lastly, we learned about adding new layers and selecting objects with the mask/select tool: I used one of my favourite photographs, and added a Blade Runner Background- I learned alot about photoshop! I hope to improve my cleanliness of lines and smoothing as I go on! For homework: We were tasked in recreating a Cigar Box Ad, using all the above skills: (The text one was the example) The true test came with the next Assignment: We were given 10 images of Eypgt and tasked to create a postcard: Here is my result- I’m happy with how this postcard came out: The blending of the background using the gradient tool was a good call, and using the purple temple went really with the yellow pyramid. The Font could have been bigger, but I liked the background font, which actu...

Testing out Lighting

September 25th: These are photos I took adjusting the ShutterSpeed and Aperture. I learned how to balance the lighting, how to adjust depending on where the light was hitting the lens. When we started, it was brighter, but then clouds rolled in. Testing out different exposures led to interesting results: I like the image with Ciarrai as the blue is really Blue, and the silhouette is very moody. The flowers need more exposure to get that true white color. I need to keep testing with different lighting elements. I have alot to learn about new equipment and am excited to compare these photos as we continue on this year Stairway up to classroom- I love the composition, but need more exposure to get full scope of the image The Car Park- I like the lighting in this image, but the composition is lacking Flowers: I took several different pictures of flowers; in the following lecture, I learned more about getting pure white in my photographs. I will use this in next weeks class. Sky- We were te...
